Have been using Sam Harris' Waking Up app for several years now. He makes it sound like the non-existence of the self is obvious and that everything is a reflection in consciousness. Are there other thinkers that derive the opposite conclusion (existence of self) from a similar approach (analyzing consciousness)?

Been using app for several months now regularly. In a sense most thinkers assume a self. Several years ago before app i had non-guided insight that all conscious experience was me, which is also true in Sam /neuroscience materialist sense. All you know is your brain activity. All self. Good Q!

Fellow ~3 year user. Have you had visceral experiences of no-self while doing the meditations? I have, but as my use of the app declined over the last year my sense of its obviousness has lessened Sometimes wonder whether that conclusion is more like a hypnosis: product of Samโ€™s repeated prompts / suggestions
