I nearly tagged you yesterday to ask you to chime in What’s your perspective & prescription on this renaming topic. I’m in the Farcaster is the protocol name full stop. If name change is gonna happen, which it sounds like this is a done deal, make changes in protocol name & governance for a clearer separation from any apps.

I think the protocol and the app should have the same name and it should be Farcast. What I expect will actually happen is the app will be renamed to match the protocol and open sourced. I don’t think the Farcaster Warpcast distinction has helped anyone and has definitely made things confusing. AFAICT Merkle’s value prop depends on controlling the development of the protocol and the best in class app until the protocol is default alive, then tokenized, its maintenance incentivized, and then the company can focus on being the most social wallet in crypto and derive revenues from its position controlling the feed of said premiere app. I’d be curious to know what the real plan is, and how far off base my conjecture is.

There are a spectrum of mistakes though. Fixing them has tradeoffs. Some tradeoffs are worth taking and some are not. ChatGPT is one of the worse names.

I get your point that we’re perpetually early and that DAU growth is important. The question is why does merklem think brand equity is wasted if Farcaster remains the name of the protocol? Something hasn't been communicated. Some threat to the protocol? Something is up. Why now with an unnecessary brand 'castling' move? https://warpcast.com/kmacb.eth/0xc16b01fe All the commentary aside, it would be wise to make bold moves now rather than dragging this out IF a change is coming. I hope they drop this time & energy wasting topic immediately. I'm not privy to what Coinbase Wallet has planned but that seems to be threatening merkelm's position as dominate app builder. idk idk dwr is is best position to know. The we need more dau isn't a valid reason for rebranding now.
