What if Merkle buys Farcast.com and we go from there

What’s your perspective & prescription on this renaming topic. 

I’m in the Farcaster is the protocol name full stop. 

If name change is gonna happen, which it sounds like this is a done deal, make changes in protocol name & governance for a clearer separation from any apps.

I think the protocol and the app should have the same name and it should be Farcast. 

What I expect will actually happen is the app will be renamed to match the protocol and open sourced.  

I don’t think the Farcaster Warpcast distinction has helped anyone and has definitely made things confusing. 

AFAICT Merkle’s value prop depends on controlling the development of the protocol and the best in class app until the protocol is default alive, then tokenized, its maintenance incentivized, and then the company can focus on being the most social wallet in crypto and derive revenues from its position controlling the feed of said premiere app. 

I’d be curious to know what the real plan is, and how far off base my conjecture is.

Why Farcaster and not Farcast? It’s shorter and substantially the same.
