Why Farcaster? Seeing the “photo from a different era” trend made me nostalgic for when platforms like Facebook felt more like communities of friends, not followers or fans. Back then, relationships weren’t commoditised quite so directly. Farcaster felt like a fresh start. Now it feels like a corner of the Internet for a certain type of crypto convert. More wholesome and less toxic than CT. It’s liberating to have space to talk about crypto freely. It’s inspiring to see what people are building. That being said, it's hard to imagine onboarding non-crypto friends here. Even the notion of onboarding feels like web3speak. I wish we'd see more diversity—high-caliber creators outside NFTs, scientists, researchers, broader conversations. I know these types of folks IRL who have fled X or Meta, but many of them are ambivalent or staunchly anti-web3. It's a shame because decentralised social feel crucial right now. Maybe that’s why I keep coming back—there’s something hopeful about being here.
