One of the funniest things Elon Musk did during the pandemic was briefly pretend to like Bitcoin before abruptly turning around and publicly trashing it and then dumping it all back on the market.

Not only that he added an element of mockery first by pretending that the really superior cryptocurrency was actually Dogecoin. I’m surprised he’s still very popular with crypto people as he doesn’t seem to respect them at all.

I know some of his companies (or at least Tesla) have been HODLing Bitcoin for a while, even through the bear. I think he also started accepting Dogecoin as payment on Tesla's website or something? I feel like it's mostly Dogecoin fans that really idolize him. But he has done things that crypto people view as positive.

I agree though, he seems to have disproportionate influence in the space despite a lack of real commitment to crypto or its ideals.
