I've gotten back into running. I want to be able to complete the /receipts run at /farcon I think it's a good goal. What I've learned 1) Bad shoes = pain 2) I can get 5k just not all running Running about 2/3rd and walking 1/3rd for a full 5k. I really want my run/jog to be zone 2 activity π is that even possible?

you got this. Do exactly what you are doing. Run walk until you can run the whole thing. Then try and go a little faster. Points are given for attendance not speed
