Yesterday, I experienced something I thought could never happen to me in my 8+ years in crypto.

I let my guard down, got too confident, and lost access to my Telegram account. Here's what happened and what I learned. 🧵

My Telegram was tied to an old phone number I hadn’t used in over 4 years. I never updated it, didn’t enable 2FA, and assumed being logged in across devices was enough to stay safe.

I was wrong.

Out of nowhere, I was logged out. My account was gone. I realized the number now belongs to someone else, and they deleted my Telegram account.

At first, my heart raced—not because of the chats—but because I recently started using a trading bot on Telegram.

I panicked. I hadn’t exported the private key for the wallet connected to the bot, and I didn’t have a backup either.

I started scrambling, searching everywhere for the private key. After what felt like forever, I finally found it saved in another messaging app.

I quickly imported the private key to a new wallet and transferred the funds to safety.

Luckily, I didn’t lose any money this time. But this was a wake-up call: I’ve been running on autopilot, and it’s time to get serious about security.

🚨 Revoke wallet access to unnecessary apps/platforms

It doesn’t matter how experienced you are in crypto—this is your sign to double-check everything.

Don’t wait for a situation like mine to wake you up. Have a backup plan. Stay safe out there.

If you remember, I recently mentioned this wallet. I deposited $1000 into it, and at its peak, it grew to $4000. At the time of writing this, it’s now around $2500.

It’s not life-changing, but losing it would still hurt.
