I took some time to write up my thoughts on the FUD around Base and our ETH earnings.

TL;DR purity tests like this are currently a scourge on Ethereum and we need to fix the culture to refocus on building and delivering value to real people.

Base is and will continue growing Ethereum. We’re investing all of our earnings and resources into doing this and we have gone from zero to millions of new people onchain in 1.5 years.

1. Purity tests like “do you hold all the ETH you earn” are a distraction and hurt Ethereum. Overfixating on virtue signaling like this distracts us from the real work, which is building products that people love and creating…

When we talk about Ethos then we have to promote all those gritty founders who have grand visions for the future. Those things are often boring for ten years and you can't just make a quick buck on trading fees.
