I took some time to write up my thoughts on the FUD around Base and our ETH earnings.

TL;DR purity tests like this are currently a scourge on Ethereum and we need to fix the culture to refocus on building and delivering value to real people.

@Tiza4ThePeople This narrative just isn’t true — here are the facts:

Base is and will continue growing Ethereum. We’re investing all of our earnings and resources into doing this and we have gone from zero to millions of new people onchain in 1.5 years.

Some more thoughts on this after the weekend:

1. Purity tests like “do you hold all the ETH you earn” are a distraction and hurt Ethereum. Overfixating on virtue signaling like this distracts us from the real work, which is building products that people love and creating…

The real world doesn’t know the value of base and the underlying technologies. It’s so underrated because the average person hears “crypto” then react “eye roll”.

It’s underrated, with a massive opportunity to build and go viral

ETH culture needs to become more product focused and ETH needs to value the users as much as the builders

yea man focusing on the things that matter (delivering value to real people) will be part of what turns things around, not these endless pseudo religious purity tests that drive users away

It’s not purity tests. It’s a natural immune system to grifts. It’s important in a healthy society to have healthy skepticism, especially when the ones in question aren’t forthcoming with the information. Don’t gaslight rational behaviour.

Listing proper coins on coinbase will also go a long way. Get the community involved stuff like miggels and virtuals are no brainers

Love what’s being built. I think downtimes like these, because then you can actually put your head down, work and make something special.
