An honorary post for my female role model on this International Women’s Day:

On the surface, this woman is stoic and strict rule-follower. She is a badass accomplished woman who doesn’t take shit from anyone. 

But this is also the same woman who contributed her baking finesse to help me make pot brownies after finding out she unknowingly trafficked a few ounces in the car across state lines…

Oops did I forget to mention I had a bunch of 🌿 in my suitcase? Sorry, mom. 

She went from gas station attendant who married her boss 21 years her elder, to divorced, single-mom (by choice).

She got her masters in social work and later became a boss lady as a Director in the Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene. 

She adopted not one, but TWO children as a SINGLE MOM at the age of 45. 

She has taught me…
To not always choose what is easy. 
To work hard for what you want. 
To give generously to the world. 
To be compassionate.
To forgive.
And so much more. 
This woman is my role model - my mom.

Skincare

If none of that was convincing enough that this is a SUPER WOMAN.

She has jumped through FIRE. 

Literally. 

In her 20s, a car with a faulty engine hit her car, which started a fire & engulfed her car in flames. 

The only way to escape was to jump THROUGH THE FIRE. 

That’s what she did. She jumped out through fire, threw herself to the ground and did a literal stop, drop & roll. 

A helicopter flew her to shock trauma to be treated with severe burns. She underwent multiple surgeries and skin-graphs to save her life. 

She was in the shock trauma unit for SIX MONTHS. (Can’t even imagine that hospital bill…) 

Although her pain was so agonizing, and at times she wished for death, she held on. For that, I am in awe, but also so grateful so she could later be my mom. 

It’s usually hard to tell in photos because she’s taken PRISTINE care of her skin, but she has had full face graphs from the skin on her thigh.  Her scars have softened over time, but she will always be GORGEOUS inside and out.

My mom does not know how to use technology but she gave me 4K about 8 years ago to invest in bitcoin when she doesn’t even know what it is. That’s not even the start of it. She is the most generous person I’ve ever met. 

She dedicated her life as a social work to help people with mental disabilities and psychiatric disorders. 

She has volunteered herself to go to disaster zones like hurricane Katrina. 

She adopted two children on her own at the age of 45.

She always finds a way to help even if it’s not in her best interest. Now THAT is something rare in this world. 

The admiration and love I have for her is worth much more than $2500 but if any woman deserves it, it’s my mom. 

She’s retired from working, but not from volunteering. She’ll never stop helping people. She’s a beautiful soul.
