I prefer to read in clusters. When I find something I'm interested in, I stack multiple books on the same topic. This has lots of benefits -- it provides perspective and helps me retain information better. A few clusters I've enjoyed recently: the Manhattan Project, early computer age, autobiographies of writers.

I like to have a stack of somewhat unrelated books to encourage cross pollination of ideas, thinking about some things in different contexts
