The single most useful thing anyone can do to help Farcaster is invite 1 person and be their Farcaster sherpa for the first month. 1. Onboard them 2. Start a direct cast with them (make sure they keep notifications on) 3. Start sending them interesting people and casts 4. Answer their questions 5. Encourage them to cast in channels they might have top 10% (or 1% knowledge on)

Most of the ppl I know are normies - I gave up on actively introducing them to Web3 until the computer is clearly more powerful than the casino I don’t mind onboarding someone if they’re already interested (which rarely ever happens) but I’m not an evangelist - I don’t like telling ppl what to do and what is better for them - they need to dtor Feel free to tell me I’m part of the problem (maybe) but I don’t wanna put ppl and my own rep on the line bc the current Web3 is unstable to say the least

The problem is that normies that get interested in crypto often WANT the casino. They look at crypto as a way to make money. As long as average annual returns for BTC outperform stocks, that's not going to change. There are plenty of awesome, nonspeculative uses for crypto today, obviously we're using one right now, but as long as the end goal for someone is to make money they're going to gravitate towards the casino. Not a crypto problem imo, a human psychology one.

Oh this is such a valid point - haven’t thought about it. Resonates with my experience, too It’s either normies who are too scared to try (and I can’t hold their hand EVERY step of the way) or occasional casino people. The marvelous men of LA love to tell me they dabble in web3 too, and when I ask them “so what do you do”, the answer is usually trading. I pretty much shut down the further convo and tell them it’s not my area of interest
