If Threads follows through on their Fediverse integration and continues to push Instagram traffic to it, opportunity for a FriendFeed 2.0 across all of the decentralized social networks. @yup skating to where the puck is going.

did tumblr decide if it's going the open-source path and going to integrate activitypub? Haven't looked in a bit

they announced they were adding activitypub in november during the big twitter exodus but i haven't seen any updates since then so who knows πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ i'm just interested in tumblr because, like fc, it has a distinct flavor and personality

I agree on distinct flavor and personality. I'm also curious to see what happens with activitypub adoption, and the current culture on the β€œfediverse” can't stand that name. Been helping an activitypub focused startup for a while now, but I can't get into the current culture that exists there

i'm becoming more convinced that the "one size fits all" monosocials aren't going to work again going forward and it should be more specific and focused networks. stuff like yup can let ppl assemble their own extended bespoke graphs from disparate technologies. sort of a return to rss reader-like internet organization

I agree. blog home and social outpost revival. generationally i've been saying that about my kids (three 13 and under) and their peers for a few years now. they context switch into communities for specific interests, small social is their default mode of operation

irl i have different friends and social groups and i love them all but i wouldn't want them all in the same room together all the time (ΰΉ‘>α΄—<ΰΉ‘) at one point the internet was small enough where u could say "these are all my internet friends" but the internet has grown and is no longer just the internet friends
