I’m spending a couple weeks traveling around Canada and my takeaways are 1) I’m very glad I don’t currently live where its cold, and 2) vacation & detaching from work is very important for mental health

#2 is super important, a lesson that’s been reiterated to me over the past week or so. For me, it takes about a week to feel the benefits in full..2-3 days for my “work brain” to quiet then 4-5 days of regular R&R

Absolutely. Weekend trips are great, but taking extended time off does wonders for actually detaching. I'm taking about 3 weeks off during the holidays and it's been fantastic
