One idea I want to explore is "Performance-Gated" user experiences as opposed to Token-gated experiences. For example, in a game, imagine having a performance-gated channel or group chat for the top 100 players or a special NFT/prize for the top 10 in a hall-of-fame category. This is a more interesting use case to me.

Cool idea.

Wonder how it can be applied to a publishing context, eg:

- Gated posts accessible to all your post collectors
- post collectors can receive newsletters a day earlier 
- commenting privileges to your top collectors

you could use erc-6551 TBA for this I think - main wallet holds nft that is main gate and then Paragraph checks the TBA of that NFT for the "performance" criteria... could be other nfts, erc-20 etc

100% agreed, been focusing on this. Early access to subscribers vs fully gating an item. Especially for content I want people to read but want to reward those paying for their support

This could be gamed, but Discourse (forum software) can grant a role based on activity (posting + commenting), and if activity declines then the role will automatically be revoked.

If you add some additional heuristics, for instance the activity being liked by trusted accounts, this reduces gaming.
