Paul Graham is just begging for Farcaster.

They're both horrible of course, but on reflection I'd say that engaging with intellectually dishonest people is worse. You have some respect for their intelligence and this causes you to waste time talking to them. Whereas with the new dumb trolls I just can't be bothered.

The more important question is whether it's possible to create a social media app where you don't have to deal with either kind of troll. I'm not sure, but my guess is yes. It's still early days. And if it is possible, that's a very exciting idea.

Farcaster is far too small to draw any conclusions. This place doesn’t even have a porn problem yet

Twitter has pro trolls because it is, for better and worse, the place where news breaks & public discourse happens. Every journalist, political actor, & tech leader is on there. >100M DAU

Farcaster is not at that tier for now. We have lower grade trolls like airdrop farmers posting low effort content.
