'Autotheory' seems like a relatively new term, referring to autobiography through the lens of critical theory I gather? But here I'm kinda stretching it ("discursive autotheory") to refer to a mode of discourse whereby the author's understanding of a topic is itself a subject of the discourse.

It involves a lot of conceptual gymnastics haha, which i know you and I love, but the intention is didactic: to help the reader develop an understanding of a complex issue by foregrounding how my own understanding develops.
