whats a good way for higher to encourage experimentation within the network? acting upon ideas, failing early and often, with the goal being profitable passionate ventures. for the purpose of this convo… please don’t say funding

Thanks for saying “please don't say funding” lol Funding is not what creates good ideas, but good ideas should definitely be funded I think the happy medium here is some sort of retroactive grants on a ~weekly/monthly basis Just like Farcaster's creator and dev rewards got people posting and building more frequently, Higher could likely do the same, maybe with @aethernet as the grant giver cc @martin since I know you toyed with this idea a bit The key will need to be clear guardrails around what gets funded / what doesn’t I generally think the lower the stakes the better - anything that gets “aligned attention” should be rewarded

glad we're aligned there lol [i get it of course but we move on] retroactive funding makes sense, talking to a few folks this seems to be consensus. not sure if aether is useful there but would be nice if they were. first retro grant = new aether? guard rails im currently less worried about as i hope a funding mechanism pops up thats more centralized and efficient. im more interested in how the network can encourage "aiming higher" without offering retro funding. how can someone find success within the network without an expectation of a payout from a pool. i keep landing on the fact that we're not building anything truly marketable. something that can garner attention outside of the network.

Re: aiming higher without retro funding: I think the best communities have strong rituals - like a religion has frequent calls to prayer, communities have rituals that bind members together with shared practices Maybe a bi-weekly community call would be a simple thing to start with? The most basic concept: each person makes a commitment + we check back with each other at the next meeting, catch up, and see how to help each other Accountability groups of any kind are great ways to keep people focused on their goals alongside likeminded ppl - and the peer support is what makes them more effective than "aiming higher" by yourself
