Take a look at these white flowers that are everywhere around Austin now. Every single one of them will turn into a burr that will lodge itself into your dog's fur and will be a pain to get out. Pay attention to those patches later in summer/fall, as dogs love to run into them and will get completely covered in burrs.

These things were the bane of my summer in my yard last year. Cats got covered head to day multiple times daily. I don't remember them from years past, but boy are they everywhere and rough to coexist with.

Best to remove them before they even flower. Once you recognize them it's very easy. I've been aware of them for years, but it definitely feels like they're getting more common every year. These huge patches of them are not something I remember from years past.
