In February 2025, tensions escalated when protesters set fire to the residence of Bangladesh's founding leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in response to a live stream by the exiled Sheikh Hasina. act led to widespread unrest and prompted the interim government to launch "Operation Devil Hunt," a nationwide initiative aimed at detaining individuals associated with the previous regime and those involved in violent activities. Within the first five days, over 9,000 arrests were made, primarily targeting members of the Awami League.
