We already have a music client for this channel. Have you tried it out yet? tunecaster.xyz

That would be nice, but Warpcast is also in the app store and it’s having a tough time bringing in thousands of new legit users

do you see Farcaster clients as a zero sum game then? factory has a wholly different offering than warpcast, and tunecaster, and the existence of each (and more) is positive sum

But I do think that having multiple clients for the same FC channel is a bit tricky. Membership in channels are not permissionless, so you’d have to build a relationship with channel owners if you plan to build on top of pre-existing channels

That’s fair. I think we won’t explore doing a write to /music then if that’s your pov Granted, with the data being openly available, it would be trivial to have linked fc users create logs off any post that includes a Spotify link, irrespective of the channel

It’s not my pov, it’s how Merkle designed the protocol. Anyone can read channels, but writing requires membership. People are also welcome to start their own channel and build a community for their app.

Merkle designed the protocol, but channels aren't gated at all at the protocol level. So anyone can link to a "channel." Attention to them is just pushed by Warpcast. In Uno, for example, we don't really think that they move the needle much, so we deprio them.

Can’t speak on Uno since I don’t have access yet. But channels have owners and mods who have worked hard to build communities on Warpcast. Disregarding this makes you fall on the side of ppl who view channels as just tags. That’s not the dream Merkle was selling.
