you don’t think that the EF should ever sell ETH to fund development of Ethereum?

I think @zoo and the rest of us want for y’all at EF to have more fun and participate with the nascent culture and people that support you.

Being credibly neutral is a political faux pas.

But also keep in mind most people that work at the EF are just nerds working on improving the protocol so you cool kids can have your fun. Our version of fun doesn't interest them, but you can thank them for 👇

(i) ethereum not bleeding 5M ETH/year to proof of work
(ii) your fees being low today
(iii) your txs getting included in &lt; 30s instead of like 1-30 min (eip 1559)

The underlying thing is the main thing.

Folks celebrated @vitalik.eth here for finally trading for an L2 token — $ANON. That rewarded the project and supported the culture. No stables needed.

The EF does use Ethereum and people who work at the EF use Ethereum too.

But the underlying thing people seem to complain most about is the fact that we sell ETH to fund development of the protocol/ecosystem.

Attitudes will change. Previous policy wasn’t wrong for its era? But it certainly held us back.

Fwiw, build your own protocol is a good thing.

fat chance of that happening when outsiders watch the same message get passed around, even when it is demonstrably false.

here, we see the entitlement that everyone else is a subject to "our version of fun".

"Our way or the highway" 
"if you don't like it, build something else"
"buy the bags that we issue"
"pay rent"
