do $degen tips have the same value as sending $degen?

I feel like they aren't, but wondering if it's explained anywhere

This is the proper response.  The only other issue is the time value of $Degen.  

The tips everyone gives here like this:
2000 $Degen

Will be allocated from airdrop 2 (20% of supply) which will start distribution beginning by claim at Degen.tips on February 29.

Honestly, from what I've seen from @jacek on Telegram I believe they could be worth more because there will be an allotment from the total airdrop each month and the tipped degen will be flattened as there are many who have been allocated large amounts and haven't tipped.

I'll go back and see if I can find exactly where I read that and get back with you.

I was definitely wrong as I could not find it in TG or any post....so I reached out to Jacek for clarification here.  I will add that Airdrop 2 will continue running until the supply runs out.  Found that deep in the comments.
