Yesterday I was disappointed that my friends’ 10 year old daughter was banned from using any AI to aid her in her projects. Apparently her teacher thinks it’s too easy to cheat with it, so it’s totally banned. 

So I was showing her how to use ChatGPT (with her parents permission ofc), making different photos together, showing her how I use it to make candle scents and measure items. Disappointing schools are not teaching kids how to use AI, feels like they’re failing them.

Teachers are being lazy and do not want to be creative on how to test their students.

Teachers can literally ask the AI to come up with ideas on how to test their students in the presence of AI.

Regarding the response, I respectfully disagree. AI can actually help with critical thinking, the problem for the teacher is to test and motivating for the critical thinking.

Not necessarily—they want to make sure they can think on their own. Biggest thing lacking for anyone who grew up with tech in their pocket is critical thinking skills. (I’ve been teaching 20-somethings for 15 yrs — it’s been declining each year)
