seen in today's @coingecko newsletter: apparently polkadot (i guess it considers itself a DAO?) spends >$100m/year, largely on "outreach" (marketing), "development" (protocol level) and "economy" (LPing in ecosystemd defi) 👀

You think that's the primary reason they haven't been adopted? I heard about them when I got into crypto and they got a big booth at ethdenver but like 🤷♀️

iirc they had a "parachain" model where you had to be approved by the team to build on their chain. Not very permissionless. I've met more VCs promoting polkadot than actual teams
