Was coincidentally sharing three tips on this on LinkedIn this morning! Lemme share here :) 1) Find your niche For Anichess, our niche is 600M+ chess population worldwide, which is growing at historical speed thanks to Chess.com, Esports World Cup Foundation, Twitch and influencers like Magnus, Hikaru and Gotham. If your product is for “anyone”, likely something is missing. 2) Build your community Without players, a game is worthless. Same applies to any platform if you can’t get your users hooked. Enable UGC, reward and co-create, together with your community. Start from getting your first 100 loyal users and scale. 3) Optimize your UX A big hurdle for mass Web3 onboarding is too many jargons and poor first-time user experience. The North Star should always be to allow user to own their first #NFT or #token without them knowing. Education will take time but a good product experience should be self-explanatory.

Game stats so far: 1M+ UAW since mini game launch 300k+ PVP players since PVP Alpha ~50k MAU I would say we are still very early in our attempt to convert chesscom players. We are not really in a rush here as education takes time, for people to get use to the game design, the monetary angle, and the fact that they have true digital property rights with in-game assets. So far we only launched 1 big activation and already saw 50k signups. More activations will come. The playbook I was referring to is for projects to search for mass Web2 communities (like 600M global chess community) with a clear value proposition, instead of creating a Web2 replica game in Web3 to target “Web3 gamers”. The latter will always be short-lived and the target audience is actually very limited but the former is true mass onboarding and real value creation.

No problem! $C is not a single game token, but an ecosystem token that powers every project/game that builds towards the vision of cultivating a global movement of strategic and competitive thinkers. Indeed Anichess is the launch partner, and there will be more to come. If you are a builder out there and you are interested to adopt $C in your project/game we are always happy to chat. https://x.com/checkmatefdn/status/1910607705175400690?s=46&t=am_lEn4AEMgdnk6iBZex8g Checkmate Foundation recently announced the Checkmate Affiliate Network - a curated alliance of strategic minds shaping the future of onchain gaming, culture, and digital property rights. We are also open to chat if your community is interested in participating, as long as the vision is aligned. $C will be the core utility token for Anichess as well as partner projects. In Anichess, players will be able to use $C for tournament buyins, in-game skins, voting & governance, creating community tournaments, publishing UGC spells etc. It will serv...

Absolutely. Currently we have been prioritizing both product and marketing. On product side, we are building the Anichess Gambit mode, where players can put in tokens to battle and winner takes all. This could greatly increases competitiveness and invite more competitive players into the game. At the same time, casual players can also grind for tokens through in-game quests so they can also participate in tournaments and shoot for the top prizes. On marketing front, we are doing a lot of quick experiments thanks to AI. We have a few vibe coders in the team who are passionate and able to ship really fast to generate attention and create hype, especially before TGE. Genius Score is currently live, where people can find out their composite onchain intellectual rating. Crypto MBTI is coming, along with the Anichess Sandbox, a UGC platform for community to create new spells and vote for the best ones for us to develop in game, making it truly community-driven. We have a few targeted markets to expand into: the...

Great Question. For Anichess - just to clarify we are not fully onchain as of today as we are still in Alpha. Player experience is still very critical. I think fully onchain games are still in its infancy stage TBH. I feel the long run equilibrium for games is a mix of web2 (centralized servers, databases) and web3 (tokens, NFTs, reputation), while fully onchain games would only make sense for some niche games. I think the reason why many Web3 games we have seen in the past cycle were perceived as “unpolished” and “unplayable” is due to the fact that they put too much emphasis on “Web3” but less so on “game”, meaning it has to be fun, playable, that people will still stay around regardless of bull or bear. For a Web3 game to succeed in the LR, gameplay has to come before the Web3 parts of it (nft/token/staking). No other ways around it. Thanks to the partnership with Chess.com and best players in the world like Magnus, we have the opportunity to co-create the new Anichess gameplay which i...
