yeah so basically there are holes drilled in the top cups and then clay rocks in the bottom cups and if there is too much water they can let go of it

we are growing

tomatoes
peppers

and then this year we also added
string beans
peas
squash
eggplant
tomatillos 

some of them are direct sow but i know the tomatillos and the eggplants we started indoors with the tomatoes and peppers

What are the bottom cups for, catching excess water?
