Is listening to audiobooks as edifying/educational as reading?

it’s the only way i can get through a book with 3 young kids. i noticed a few things retention and focus only when doing something that has no distractions. ❌ doing anything outdoors/driving ✔️ doing blunt things like loading a dishwasher, organizing, vacuuming…etc

Yeah my only issue with audiobooks is it’s easier to get distracted

I don't get distracted or I go back and rewind but it is much harder to take notes or highlight things.

Weirdly. Reading a book is sometimes more distracting for me because the form factor is so close to my phone that my brain just wants to do phone things. Listening is like paying attention to a conversation to me. Easier to focus.

💯 tried while walking outdoor; most of the times i zone out and realize i missed 10min so have to rewind.
