Sometimes I see people upset that Zora artists use the term Free Mint to mean protocol fees only. It's just kind of the colloquial term we use because previous to protocol rewards artists set a price (usually at a min 10x the price of protocol rewards). How do people feel about the term? Are there alternatives?

I think that people have too much time on their hands when this is something to get upset about ..

I think its misleading and should be adjusted. $3 is not free and despite language that the protocol fee is separate - most people don't know or care enough to understand the difference. I believe mints will trend towards $1 and be shown as such (whether in dollars of ETH). Lower mint prices means more access.

The terminology is not clear. As it’s not free. But I do get it. For instance moshi costs less to mint, I guess they cover the fees?

Maybe attaching somewhere this (only protocol fees) would make it a little more transparent?

I think it's not honest (I've used it too).

Free has an established meaning. Using it like that feels like an attempt to obfuscate those protocol fees by lumping them in with gas fees.

Main prob is that diff platforms have diff base tiers. Some share rewards with artists and others don't. Base mint might work but confusion with base chain. Maybe fee mint? Or better yet, just state the damn price 0.000777 eth Bit of a confusing eco really.

I'm not quite sure where to go with it, but I tried to mint my animation from the latest animation round, and .00007 was a bit too much for me, as dumb as it sounds, because I didn't have a quick way to buy eth. But I should be good once the round's over.

I get why β€œFree Mint” might be confusing, especially for newcomers. Maybe we could use β€œNo Artist Fee Mint” to clarify that it’s only the protocol fee? It's all about making things more approachable while keeping the community-informed vibe strong. Any other suggestions or thoughts?
