there’s a psychological trick I use in my work — my flute has a name, I talk to her, negotiate with her. she gets mad at me if I don’t play for a long time and so on.

do you guys do the same thing with your computers or products? If not — highly recommend trying it

as strange as is it sounds, but we do build relationships with those things too

everything in my life is named.

home: the Dawn Forge (currently)

car: Nala (always Lion King themed)

computers: Vela, Cassiopeia (always constellations)

phones: Nina, Tween, Sixy, Fivel (puns based on the model name)

chainsaws: Buzz Lightyear, Chop Chop (puns based on cutting actions or engine noises)

no kings. only working on impossible things.

Haha yeah same, actually. I don't actively personify everything by consciously talking to it like a person, but most everything has a name!

i use them more as unique identifiers than for anthropomorphizing them, but it does encourage me to take better care of my things

I agree with that. Most of my vehicles I've had for over a decade and done all the maintenance myself, and I absolutely think the personalization motivates me to put in the effort.

Most gear heads I know are that way, tbh!
