Seeing lots of people on Twitter dunk on this new law in Australia preventing children under 16 from using social media. What do you think?

I think it’s a great idea in theory but I’m worried about the execution and enforcement - will all social sites now require KYC?

They're going to put the onus on the social media sites, yet to see how well that goes... no kid is gonna get in trouble for using tik tok, the idea is more of to shift the national social norms around social media use and it's harms They want the same dynamic as with alcohol; most teenagers start drinking before they're legally allowed to, but 'cos that happens at 16/17 rather than 12/13 that's a huge public health win. There's also a lot of education around responsible drinking and young people generally start experimenting having already been subjected to this. Again, they want this dynamic with social media too
