Open communities beget chaos, and how that community handles chaos will produce various outcomes, so looking at existing communities that have grown, what did they do?

Bird app took the route of essentially encouraging chaos as “engagement”. Hacker News has a curation model, which narrows the scope of accepted discourse (for better or worse). Discord and Reddit took the approach of self selecting into sub-communities

I think both discord and reddit prioritized decentralized systems for moderation, vs for twitter it is centralized/tacked on. it's hard for healthy communities to be cultivated without it (devolving into a call of duty lobby is a natural state of internet community entropy)
