in 2021, ethereum still had sharding on the roadmap. makes sense people didn't want to be all in on L2s, when sharding would have made them mostly redundant.

People like Haseebs worry in that post wasn't that sharding would make rollups redundant, it was that if people wanted scale, they’d just use sidechains BSC or Polygon instead, and rollups would get no adoption at all despite being the more "trustless" solution
