Reposting my comments on it from HN: The loss of cognitive overhead of dealing with a physical workspace with distractions abound has to be countered with a new cognitive overhead β putting initiative forward in reaching out to coworkers, setting up regular 1:1s to just chat.

While the conversations may initially feel forced (because they are indeed artificial), once camaraderie is built, it feels as natural as an office chat.

Great insight. Iβd also add that new cognitive load due to screen time and body pain is also setting in. As years go by, I suspect this will take a larger toll for remote. All in all, I donβt think one is better than the other - but commuting for over 10-20 mins is objectively not useful imo.
