Does anyone actually need phone service abroad??

Having receive ability on your primary line will make things a lot easier, mostly cause you’ll realize a lot of things need SMS 2FA.

Most places in EU at least use WhatsApp though, haven’t needed to call anyone in the month I’ve been here

I do too, but a lot of services literally use phone numbers for login these days, and with those there’s no way around it.

This is a great point 

I do use SMS 2FA for some services but usually have an email or Auth option as well
