A positive milestone that somehow creeped up without me or many others noticing:

Geth is now under 2/3 of all validators!

In practice, this means that if geth has a bug that other clients do not have, the chain will stop finalizing for over a week, giving us time to fix the situation. https://i.imgur.com/WO2djKp.jpg

Is Erigon's codebase sufficiently district from Geth's that this situation is more likely than one in which the same problem affects both clients?

I asked this question to Erigon in the bird app a while ago.

Basically the EVM code is largely unchanged, but the rest of it is fairly distinct (state, networking, tx pool, etc). So it really depends where a potential bug resides
