I am seriously thinking about learning to code and I need some advice. What would be the best language to learn? Is there a way to learn it on my own using online resources? Is there an app for that? How long does it take to learn from zero to something useful?

TypeScript with Next.js is a good start if you want to utilise vscode with Copilot or Cursor for code generation. Then you can start prompting simple apps and learn as you go :)

Thank you for the recommendation. Would I have to learn a bit of java script before?

Having some knowledge prior to fully digging into it is obviously beneficial. It depends really on what the end goal is. To build production apps or just build small apps for yourself. For the latter using AI for both code generation and teaching is in my opinion so much better than the "Tutorial Hell" path for keeping motivated and actually learning a bit as you go.
