Your Farcaster Casts are your CV (a ๐งต) When I get a notification that someone commented on my post and I donโt recognize the name/pfp, the first thing I do is scroll their profile. I make a judgement in about 15 seconds and try to determine if I think you are an authentic account or a spammer/scammer/farmer. Here are the things I look for: 1. Are you posting original content? 2. Is your profile mostly recasts and frames? 3. If you are casting to big channels (cough /itookaphoto /nature) do the photos look like you took them or are they stolen from Pinterest? 4. Are you casting to channels that generate a lot of spam? (Iโm not going to throw shade at the channels in public)

If I canโt easily tell that you are an authentic account, I hesitate to interact. Our follows empower scammers. I donโt care do much that I accidentally follow a spammy account, but I do care if I follow an account thatโs being set up to scam people. They tend to have a pattern and an MO for how they cast. Itโs subtle but they tend to casts in popular channels with stolen content. I donโt know their end game, but I assume they interact with me hoping I will interact back and maybe follow to boost their credibility.

How do you recognize the stolen pictures? I was thinking about it these days. There are many pictures that you canโt tell if they were made by people who casted them or not.

If my photographer friends donโt follow the person, Iโm instantly suspicious. When I scroll these channels and see ridiculously beautiful photos that seem Professional, they probably are. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
