Speed skating season has started. Really a thing in The Netherlands, a HUGE thing. An entire-weekend-live-broadcasting thing.

They have an ice rink with a length of 400 meters and they skate in pairs. One against one. There are a few events with more skaters on the ice, but mostly it's one skater against one other. In the end, the one who sets the lowest time over the competition distance (generally 500m, 1000m, 1500m, and then 3000 & 5000 for women, and 5000 and 10000 for men.

The Dutch are generally quite good.
