These are very common in Argentina and Uruguay. It is called “empanadas”. In Brazil we have something similar but it is fried. I didn’t know they were a food from Nigeria as well. So cool!

Brazil/pt: Pao de queijo 
Jamaican: Beef Patty 
Latinos: Empanada
India: Samosas 
China: dumplings

But pao de queijo is not the same as empanadas. In brasil they are equivalent to pastel.

Pastel is very common. You might have eaten it. Usually they are fried. But there are also some that are baked. That’s our equivalent to empanadas. 
Pão de queijo is delicious. My favorite snack. But it is something else.

Ah yeah, you're right. When I lived there, I feel like I never had pastels. Lots of Pao de queijo, misto quente, feijoada, chicken hearts, and other foods. Maybe I didn't but I didn't realize it since I was young.
