Mostly true! However, I lost interest in games when most of them turned from a finite goal ("finish the game") to an infinite one (prob WoW was the first one), which to me seemed like an unbounded time I'd be spending on a game.

There are a ton of indie games now that are made like classic games but designed better. AAA first person shooters are sometimes really crappy though, like this meme is actually true for some xbox shooters.
