Please help I need to appreciate my own life more by hearing your experiences What’s the dumbest situation you’ve ever been in? As in office space style “I have 4 bosses that all want conflicting things and have no end in sight” type of dumb Mine is in the 1st reply

Now I’ve been a LOT of dumb situations, but I think this is the dumbest While deployed to Afghanistan back in 2016/17, my company was the only unit in the Tarin Kowt region (bout an hour by air away from any other NATO units) We had a makeshift base setup where we lived so we could maintain a secure location in this area so NATO generals could advise the Afghan Army on how to fight the Taliban So we made a mini position within an Afghan army base who were 50/50 Taliban sympathetic (we knew this bc we listened to their unencrypted radio transmissions…. with the Taliban) And every few days a General would come through and we’d provide security for like a 6 hour PowerPoint presentation which we soon realized was just an excuse for the NATO generals to just sort of hang out and drink tea and eat chicken + rice. Overall dumb, but manageable…

as a toddler, I managed to get into a standard locker without realising they did not build those for tiny people to open from the inside. as far as "there are no adults in the room", I once had an elective class that I tried to take over, when the instructor stopped showing up. for obvious reasons, school admins had to shut it down entirely.

Spent days trying to prove to my now-ex-gf that I wasn't seeing someone else after she heard another woman's voice on my phone (it was my mom. I called her to wish her and dad a happy anniversary 😭) Now that I look back at it, I don't know why I even bothered at all

A man was brought in after a suicide attempt. He took all of his propranolol (a beta blocker that lowers heart rates and blood pressure) and drank a liter of whiskey. We put him on the ventilator and worked on him all night. I ordered treatments I've never done before or since. We did high dose insulin and D10W (sugar water), high dose lipids, got meds brought in from outside hospitals, plus the usual vasopressors. He walked out of the hospital after a brief stay in the psych ward. I celebrated it as one of my biggest wins 3 months later, I'm called to the ER for an admit. A bunch of cops are hanging around as I walk in. He did it again, this time less severe. But in the process, he shattered his girlfriend's face with his fist and assaulted a cop. I hated every moment of saving his life again

Keeping it intentionally vague, but dealing with people who have a myopic understanding of what they are asking for, and sadly happen to have more power than they should, so you have to cater to their whims even though what they're asking for will never materialize. Lots of dumb situations but this is the first one that came to mind: Stuck at a gas station bc our zipcar died less than 10 minutes away from the zipcar parking spot. Customer support refuses to let us leave the car or send somebody out saying they can try to “reboot the car remotely” for a car model that 1. Did not have that function 2. Clearly was out of battery and needed to be jump started. They also did not want us to jump start the car??? Just a very frustrating experience! Took 2.5 hours to convince them to let us leave the car and reimburse us for the uber ride back but the most frustrating part was that we were so close to zipcar parking spot 😭

Oh, I totally get this! One time, I was juggling three projects with no clear direction, and each one had completely different priorities. Felt like I was in a never-ending loop! It's good to laugh at these moments now, perspective really helps.
