Chatting with an Army buddy about embracing challenge-seeking behavior in our daily life My buddy said he realized that “People without a growth mentality seem almost maliciously lazy” when you live that way Not a value judgment (we all have different struggles), but this sums up a lot of my unconscious thinking

I don’t know how I feel about this. Like I can respect it but also some people just want enough. They want kids, cats, coffee, time with people before they die. This isn’t a struggle or laziness. It’s just different values I respect the hustle when it comes with the desire to hustle but I resent hustle culture

I think one can want those things AND have a growth mindset, too, it's just their growth is focused differently because of their different priorities. My life is cats and good food and contemplation, but I also seek growth and challenge not for the sake of hustle but for the sake of curiosity and a desire to make sure my cozy life is stable and sustainable.

also super valid i think for me any frustration involved is more about comfort in stagnation in whatever realm you're ascribing value to for yourself even monks have stages of enlightenment 🤷

I think what triggers me is the negative correlation of growth mindset and laziness I’m sure yours is different but my read on GM is more like the insatiable need and perpetual movements towards more. Like enough is never enough. Excess is never enough There’s also a manifestation vibe I get when I hear it and thats a turnoff It makes me think of wealth and power consolidation at the expense of most others. This is a lot but I’m an overthinker and there are a lot of people citing growth mindset in a way that makes it appear gross to me

Having gone through stages of enlightenment myself, after the third one, I gave up on thinking I'd arrived at some ultimate destination. There is no destination, only the journey of becoming.
