Disclaimer: I am not against donating to those in need. I like to think I've proven myself as a generous and good person Now, let's talk about crowd funds. I received a dm directly asking me to donate. This was the final straw for me. I urge people to think before you act. People donating to these are good and kind. Most also need their money but have decided to "help someone in need" If you're putting up a crowd fund, ask yourself: - is this really necessary? - can this wait? The people donating believe your story, but if you're lying, you're no different than every other grifter and scammer on here. We've now seen the repercussions of past bad actions. If you keep acting in bad faith, the space will reject you. Is the 2k really worth it? Don't sell your reputation for anything. You only get ONE.

I didn’t even know crowd funding was a thing on here. How do we know what is legit and what isn’t? And begging for help doesn’t sit right with me too.

I kept my mouth shut as I saw them all populate all over the timeline. But this dm was it. I know we all have to make our own decisions but I know /burrfrens are generous to a fault. I hate seeing them taken advantage of 🫂🤍

Ya they are allowed to ask all they want but doesn't mean we have to donate. To me when asking for help make sure it's truly in a time of need. I received a DM once to help boost for awareness but not asking to donate so that wasn't bad

Yea, after seeing some of the crowdfunding asks, something needs to be done to verify the legitimacy of these asks. Otherwise, this is no better than the grifters like you mentioned and no better than just conning people or begging on the streets.
