Disclaimer: I am not against donating to those in need. I like to think I've proven myself as a generous and good person Now, let's talk about crowd funds. I received a dm directly asking me to donate. This was the final straw for me. I urge people to think before you act. People donating to these are good and kind. Most also need their money but have decided to "help someone in need" If you're putting up a crowd fund, ask yourself: - is this really necessary? - can this wait? The people donating believe your story, but if you're lying, you're no different than every other grifter and scammer on here. We've now seen the repercussions of past bad actions. If you keep acting in bad faith, the space will reject you. Is the 2k really worth it? Don't sell your reputation for anything. You only get ONE.

I didn’t even know crowd funding was a thing on here. How do we know what is legit and what isn’t? And begging for help doesn’t sit right with me too.

I donated to ONE crowd fund, then received many DMs to help them with theirs. I’m a stay at home mom of 6…I need every damn cent. However I’m nice so I give my money to others. No more. If you don’t know my favorite color, you’re not getting a dime from me. ;)

I just donated to one of my friends once I think because the amount of donations are in small amounts it doesn't seem a big issue I need it too I even created a fund raising but I cancelled it because after posting I thought, maybe there are more people needing it and maybe my friends feel obligated so it didn't sit with right All in all I completely understand what you're saying and it's a good point!

It started well and with crowdfunds of people genuinely in need and then people started abusing it and spamming the whole tl with them and its insane that they are dming people now wth and im genuinely just skeptical when i see some so i only donate to people i see as friends on here and only what i can afford to lose
