my ~/Downloads folder has become the "I have no digital organizational skills" catch-all folder and it's a cry for help

I distinctly remember in middle school / high school / early college being obsessive about file structure and organization. What the hell happened??

dude same, but i think it’s because the search function on my computer makes it very easy to find files, so i actually don’t need to be organizing them anymore. everything just gets dropped into one nameless folder on my desktop.

yep, exactly. we didn't used to have such stellar search features! now I'm wondering why my old picture backups are even organized into folders by date... they should probably just all be in one megafolder. now that you can search by date, content, text, etc
