i’ve been thinking a lot this week about the map of social change roles and how we can use this framework to think about ethereum’s ecosystem. ethereum is a social experiment that needs all players involved. mapping thread, tag urself 🪡

ethereum is more than a network; it’s a shift in how we structure power. just as the printing press decentralized knowledge and the internet reshaped culture, blockchains challenge who gets to control value and trust

“At the core of the cypherpunk philosophy,” political scientist Robert Manne explains, “was the belief that the great question of politics in the age of the internet was whether the state would strangle individual freedom and privacy through its capacity for electronic surveillance or whether autonomous individuals would eventually undermine and even destroy the state through their deployment of electronic weapons newly at hand.”

when I used to teach 18-20 year olds about digital discourse and I’d ask them how they felt about privacy online, they always said that it “didn’t matter” because they have “nothing to hide.” privacy isn’t about secrecy, it’s about freedom. who benefits from you thinking privacy only matters for secrecy?

Does EF need new leadership or do you just need to free your mind of outdated power paradigms?

no one’s asking but here’s my take: Ethereum should be for everyone. This means that we need people (builders, contributors, users) from diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests. This gatekeeping activity on X (people need to be doing ____ to be a “legit” user of the network) is actually counterproductive.
