Housing supply at a point in time is not an infinite resource. Increasing population for said housing will increase prices. Supply and Demand. … this was drafted an hour ago fyi Trump and Vance will hammer this issue the next month. # of migrants during this administration has absolutely driven up demand, especially in some regions.

That doesn't mean it's the main problem or source of high demand though and it certainly doesn't mean their anti immigrant policy would help. Unfortunately people fall for the scapegoat trick anyway.

this was prob the most dumbfounding moment in the debate for me. blackrock has had more of an effect on housing prices in the us than immigrants. trying to pin it on them is as disgusting as the propaganda about eating pets

Are you suggesting that folks wading across the Rio Grande river are out bidding couples bidding on houses? I doubt it, but even if they are a working free market should increase supply to meet demand. Bigger factors are nimby’s who have a vested interest in constraining supply to inflate the price of their homes and institutional buyers scooping up residential real estate as a place to park capitol in an separate asset class from stocks and bonds. The Harris plan to address red tape blocking building will do more to address the root issues than mass deportations.

Demand side policy (Trump or Kamala’s) won’t fix housing. We need supply side solutions
