I’ve always been a tab guy. Until js kept defaulting to spaces, and only 2 spaces at that. I gave in to the default one day instead of setting it to a tab on a new computer. Now my shit is a mess and depending on language, has different spacing conventions 😂

Haha, sounds like you have an auto formatter that is working against you. I also don’t like auto-formatting, as they tend to pollute commits with unrelated changes. Imagine when two devs with different format settings collaborate. It’s no fun to review those pull requests. I like separate “formatting” commits.

As for tabs, IDEs (even vim) can adjust the visual presentation of tabs to be any width in spaces. Two devs with differing visual preferences can work on the same code base. It’s all about programming in a way that eases collaboration. Polite practices.
