Can someone please explain to me why I would ever want

for apps that I want to be part of my identity

a (smart) wallet

that’s not connected to my ENS or any of my other onchain history?

I don’t want this but everyone is excited about smart wallets that force this

Today, smart wallets are for the millions of users on exchanges who are not yet onchain.

They are not for EOAers married to their onchain history.

BUT I am willing to bet most EOAers will switch to smart wallets in ~2 years - the UX is that good.

Smart wallets are not for you today. If we get stuck in old ways and history, we'll never grow the pie.

Ok but then I want apps to let me also use my own wallet, not force me to make a new smart wallet

What apps are forcing you to make a new smart wallet?

This is no different than embedded wallets which make you make a new address for each - but here the address you create can be used across all the other dapps you already use.

Significantly better than embedded wallets, AND great for the normies.
